Join Stephanie Quirk for a four-day workshop exploring Iyengar Yoga for the senses of perception, with a focus on the eyes and ears. The extended weekend will introduce teachers to therapeutic approaches to working with the sense organs in asana. The interaction of the senses and the mind will be explored.

Stephanie’s online workshop (available here), served as a launchpad for this in-person immersion into yoga therapy for the sense organs. Stephanie will expand upon conditions such as glaucoma and detached retina that obstruct the functioning of our eyes and ears and how to use yoga practice to aid the return of their clarity. Stephanie will teach adaptations for students as well as the precision of action required to work with delicate organs. She will provide direct, practical, hands-on guidance.

After a few weeks to practice and digest the material, workshop participants will have the opportunity to meet with Stephanie for a live, online Q&A session. The session take place on October 15 from 5-6:30PM Pacific Time and the recording will be made available.

Space is limited and priority will be given CIYTs. Please fill out this form to pre-register. If you are admitted into the workshop, you will be sent a payment link to register. After receiving the link, you’ll have two weeks to purchase the workshop in order to reserve your spot.

Bio

Stephanie Quirk is a world leader in the field of yoga therapeutics. She spent 20 years living, studying and working directly with the Iyengar family at the Ramanani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India.

Her first visit to RIMYI was in 1991. She returned in 1994 and decided to immerse herself fully into study at the Institute. Stephanie began yoga in Sydney, Australia with a background in art, a qualification in psychiatric nursing and a Buddhist dharma and meditation practice.

The longer she stayed and studied at the institute in Pune, the more Stephanie came to appreciate that the Iyengars were conveying much more in practice and teaching than external technique and instructions. Although she has extensive experience of Iyengar Yoga therapy from working in the medical classes in Pune, she regards yoga in terms of its integrative effect that brings balance, wholeness and equanimity.

In her teaching, Stephanie is able to guide the student into the ‘self-involvement’ required for the journey towards inner knowledge and connectedness with all layers of ourselves.
