Iyengar Yoga for the Senses of Perception with Stephanie Quirk, In-Person on September 19-22 in LA

$750.00

Join Stephanie Quirk for a four-day workshop exploring Iyengar Yoga for the eyes and ears. Continuing from Stephanie’s online workshop in March (available here), the extended weekend will allow time to delve deeper into the subject of handling the subtle instruments of our sense organs. Stephanie will expand upon conditions that obstruct the functioning of our eyes and ears and explain how to use yoga practice to aid the return of their clear, unobstructed state.

BKS Iyengar referred to the eyes and ears as windows to the mind. The eyes allow light in while the ears bathe in the vibrations of the world. Sensitive and delicate organs, they seek and join in their perceived objects. Disturbance to a sense organ can interfere with that marriage.

The workshop will cover common problems that can arise with the sense organs as well as their important connection to and influence on the mind.
Teachers will have the opportunity to experience examples of adaptations for students. Working with care, Stephanie will provide direct practical hands-on guidance and clarify the precision of actions required for this delicate subject.

Space is limited and priority will be given to Level 2 and above CIYTs. Please fill out this form to pre-register. If you are admitted into the workshop, you will be sent a payment link to register. After receiving the link, you’ll have two weeks to purchase the workshop in order to reserve your spot.

Bio

Stephanie Quirk is a world leader in the field of yoga therapeutics. She spent 20 years living, studying and working directly with the Iyengar family at the Ramanani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India.

Her first visit to RIMYI was in 1991. She returned in 1994 and decided to immerse herself fully into study at the Institute. Stephanie began yoga in Sydney, Australia with a background in art, a qualification in psychiatric nursing and a Buddhist dharma and meditation practice.

The longer she stayed and studied at the institute in Pune, the more Stephanie came to appreciate that the Iyengars were conveying much more in practice and teaching than external technique and instructions. Although she has extensive experience of Iyengar Yoga therapy from working in the medical classes in Pune, she regards yoga in terms of its integrative effect that brings balance, wholeness and equanimity.

In her teaching, Stephanie is able to guide the student into the ‘self-involvement’ required for the journey towards inner knowledge and connectedness with all layers of ourselves.
